"TJ suggests that students should consider the specialties of animation and work toward selecting and pursuing their choice while in school…
“Decide what it is you want to do--whether it's concept art, animation, characters, or environments. Commit and take it all the way during your time at school. Be inspired by what's around you. Evaluate all critiques and suggestions openly and truthfully, yet don't neglect your instincts as well--we all have an inner voice to share. Never stop learning. All of this will carry over as you start working in your field.”
TJ reminds ACME students to rely on the basics when working on new projects…
“Regarding animation, whether it's 2D or 3D, I find it helpful to remind myself that it all comes down to poses and timing. It's easy to get too caught up in offsetting keys or tweaking curves. Whenever I find myself lost, I usually find my way back by referring back to the basics. And of course, be sure you know your character, the story point and how your piece fits into the bigger picture.”
