Now most of of us as animator's get caught out when we animate to a beat, mostly for us we don't play an instrument or actually dance (in public). I found some great articles about animating a beat (dancing). It is a good skill to have just because you strengthening you timing and spacing.
Please note if you aren't already doing walk or runs, cycles or otherwise, don't start animating with a "humanoid" rig start with something like a bouncing ball or if your feeling more confident try a flour sack.
